Intro

“Talk” is a shoegaze / dream pop song released on October 15, 2017, built around delayed guitars, thick bass lines, and a light, bouncing beat. Simple chord progressions are layered with hazy vocals and a floating sound, shaping a track that feels true to otom’s style. This single follows the release of “Wanderers” in July 2016.

Note

“Talk” is built around rhythmic phrases of classic and electric guitars. A simple, thick bass line and bouncing drums form the foundation, while arpeggio patterns and 12-string plus reversed guitars layer on top. Hazy vocals create the chorus lines, and the overall sound has a slightly rough texture, giving it a sound much liked. The song grew out of an arpeggio phrase in the intro, and it finally shaped up from ideas I had been keeping since around 2009. The jacket photo shows my grandmother when she was young, taken around the 1930s-1940s.

“Talk” is a song created while re-discovering the importance of the first spark of inspiration in making music. The initial idea was kept at the center, and the track was finished with a simple structure. Enjoy.
