Intro
“Normalize” is a single by otom, released on October 1, 2018, built around reverse guitars with a soft, flutter-like tone that blend into a gentle wall of sound. A rhythmic clean guitar adds a bright accent, giving light movement to the floating beat and atmosphere. The layered vocals add warm shading to the mix, creating a sound that blends dream pop and shoegaze. It was released together with otom’s cover of “Bizarre Love Triangle”.
Note
This track is built around looped sounds with a flutter-like tone and thick reverse guitars, giving it a slightly upbeat feel. A rhythmic clean guitar adds a small accent and brings a gentle drive to the overall sound. The layered, slightly rough vocals float inside a soft bed of noise. The original version was written around 2005, and only an acoustic take was included on the 4th EP “Melody of Second Year” (2006). For this remake, the lyrics were rewritten in Japanese, and the sound was rebuilt using guitar, many pedals, a laptop, and original Max patches. During the mix, the small high-pitched noises that appeared on the left and right guitars caused a lot of trouble, but careful adjustments were made to finish the track.
